MJ and I actually did something different this weekend. We decided to have a mental health day because this is the last weekend MJ has free for the rest of the quarter. We initially planned to skip church and go to the farmer’s market they have here. We couldn’t find the farmer’s market, so we finally decided to walk around Main St. Walla Walla has a really cute Main St. with lots of shops, but we have never explored it before. We ate at a pastry place we hadn’t tried before and then just walked around. MJ tried a couple of coffees from recommended coffee shops. She hated both of them and realized that she shouldn’t stray too far from Starbucks. I will admit that the second coffee was so strong and bitter that it tasted worse than the alcohol I may or may not have (relatively) recently tasted.
We had two favorite stores. One of them we loved because they had a store dog. It was this beautiful golden retriever that was so friendly. It followed us around the store, and we got to pet it. Our second favorite store was a bookstore. It was so cute. We had fun browsing, and we finally bought something. I felt bad just walking through stores and then leaving. Especially when there was no one else in the store. MJ got a cool color-by-number book at the bookstore.
We wanted to eat at the Pasta Factory for a late lunch, but they don’t open until two, so we had some time to kill. We decided to drive to my favorite park in Walla Walla. It has a big lake with a fountain and a bird aviary. I brought my camera so MJ and I could do a photo shoot. We got a couple of nice photos. I’m still learning how to best edit and what poses to do. We had great weather on Saturday. After that, we had lunch and got ice cream at Pine Cone. Then we came back to our room and watched a movie. Sunday was just a bunch of homework all day long.
On a sad note, our room is so so so so so so so hot. All the time. We have two fans going and our window is open, but it doesn’t help much. I’m having to store our chocolate in the fridge because it’s starting to really melt. I looked up the melting point of chocolate and that means it is at least 80 degrees in our room. Luckily, we will leave for the Seattle tour in a couple of days and then Mom will be here. I will finally be able to sleep without waking up multiple times because I am melting. Oh! I almost forgot. MJ’s laptop got a virus and so we are also having to deal with that. It won’t be fixed until Dad comes in 10 days.
Three weeks down, only seven more to go. We miss everyone!
Love,
J&M
