Week 1… Again

Somehow the first week back after spring break is even worse than the first week back of winter. We think it is because you are so close to being done but not yet. Plus Mom is always saying to wait for Spring quarter and now it is here. It also sucks to be coming from 80 degree weather in Mexico to a high of 50 degrees in Washington. The first week always feels like a scramble. You have to get textbooks and other materials, find the new classrooms, adjust to new teachers, etc. It has surprisingly gone pretty well for us compared to other first weeks. MJ did not get into the classes she wanted to but we were able to scrap together a schedule that is actually working really well for her. I have had the most drama. I ended up switching a class on Thursday. I’m trying very hard not to feel bad about that. I tried a coding class and decided that is not for me so I switched to an upper division marketing class. I’m a little anxious because I missed the whole first week and it is a 400 level class. It also has a recommended lower division marketing class which I have not taken. I seem to just like jumping in the deep end in college. Who needs to take entry level classes. I like to take the upper division first so when I take the recommended lower division classes they are super easy. That is my winning game plan.

Oh! A big drama has been that it is April U-Days this weekend and the director of the dorms sent out an email early last week saying everyone is required to host a high schooler. MJ and I did not like that at all. Neither did others for a variety of reasons: we are paying for the dorms, they are our only private space, there’s not a lot of room, etc. Luckily, the director heard the complaints and said that if we email him he will let us not host so that is what MJ and I did.

Onto music news. There is a really big concert tomorrow night called Prism. It doesn’t start until 9:00pm! It is going to be pretty cool though. Every music ensemble on campus is going to perform and it’s supposed to be 50min of nonstop music. It is done in the church in complete darkness. The ensembles are scattered throughout the room and are lit with a spot light when it is their turn. I think it is going to be pretty fun. Luckily, there are two Prism concerts so Mom will be able to attend the second one. She isn’t flying in until Wednesday.

I have some new art pieces you can go check out. I don’t have any pictures this week yet. MJ and I are going to Pine Cone for ice cream tomorrow. I’ll see if I can update this post then.

UPDATE: We ended up going to Pine Cone today. We finished a Sabbath movie but still had awhile until sundown so we decided to go.

One week down and only ten more to go. We really miss everyone!

Love,

J&M
